A good question
Last night, a friend who is not married asked me why in my opinion couples who have been together for a long time grow apart. That has gotten me thinking and this song by Rupert Holmes came to mind.
I was tired of my lady
We'd been together too long
Like a worn-out recording
Of a favorite song
So while she lay there sleeping
I read the paper in bed
And in the personal columns
There was this letter I read
"If you like Pina Coladas
And getting caught in the rain
If you're not into yoga
If you have half a brain
If you'd like making love at midnight
In the dunes on the Cape
Then I'm the love that you've looked for
Write to me and escape."
I didn't think about my lady
I know that sounds kind of mean
But me and my old lady
Have fallen into the same old dull routine
So I wrote to the paper
Took out a personal ad
And though I'm nobody's poet
I thought it wasn't half bad
"Yes I like Pina Coladas
And getting caught in the rain
I'm not much into health food
I am into champagne
I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon
And cut through all this red-tape
At a bar called O'Malley's
Where we'll plan our escape."
So I waited with high hopes
And she walked in the place
I knew her smile in an instant
I knew the curve of her face
It was my own lovely lady
And she said, "Oh it's you."
Then we laughed for a moment
And I said, "I never knew."
That you like Pina Coladas
Getting caught in the rain
And the feel of the ocean
And the taste of champagne
If you'd like making love at midnight
In the dunes of the Cape
You're the lady I've looked for
Come with me and escape
repeat chorus twice and fade out

That's a good one and, thanks for visiting my blog.
Just went thru the first page, just wondering...we could have been into the same curry noodles with cockles in TTDI;)
If it was the shop behind the 7-11 in the Burhanuddin Helmi area, we're thinking of the same one.
That song, Pinacolada... I always wanted to know who sang it. Horible song! Unless one does wish to escape. It made me think of another horrible song "My lady Da Banville" I cant remember who sang oso. very upseting. Hahaha. Makes me think also of another sad song "End of the world" that leads to the next song "Oh baby baby" by Britney Spears (not so much sad, but sad singer!) Ps- thanks for visiting my blogblog!
I'd only just found out who the singer was last night when I searched for the song lyrics online! He's a one-hit-wonder. The lyrics isn't anything fantastic, it's what the lyrics say. So often couples who have been together for a long time tend to take each other for granted and stop discovering new things about each other.
The song "End of the World" is so depressing!
Lovely blog you havee
